Hot Take Tournament

Welcome to Halftone’s first Hot Take Tournament! This Tournament will feature hot takes, unpopular opinions, and pop culture predictions solicited from YOU, the Rowan University student body. Contestants have from November 11th to December 2nd to submit. You can submit your hot takes in two ways: by sending us a TikTok video of yourself explaining your take in under a minute, or submitting a written response via our Google form. Keep in mind that your take will be read aloud on Halftone’s TikTok account. (Please refrain from profane or targeted language). 

Submitters can choose to remain anonymous. 

What kind of takes are we looking for? Glad you asked. We want takes that unconventional, that might have to start with a “hear me out” or “I know I sound crazy.” We want unpopular opinions that aren’t just the opposite of what everybody else is thinking, but something that’s genuinely subversive. Think “Columbo is a better detective than Batman” and not “Chappell Roan is mid.”

Here’s a few more examples to get you started:

– All of the “Brat” remixes are better than the originals. 

– CDs are batter than vinyls. 

– Silly Bands will return in 2025

– Movies aren’t as good as TV shows
